What Are You Waiting For? Book Review

I recently received a copy of What Are You Waiting For?: The One Thing No One Ever Tells You About Sex by Dannah Gresh.

This book was an honest and refreshing read, and one that I think any girl could benefit from. It maintains a positive but frank approach to the all-confusing issues of intimacy at a young age and beyond. It does not have a tone of condescension or condemnation that is found all too often when addressing such issues.

Dannah Gresh, through insight into her own choices and journey to overcome them, relates how she managed guilt, vices, and finding the truth in intimacy. Her honesty about her own past and struggles within her relationship bring a voice to this piece that makes it less of a lecture and more of a conversation and exploration of these issues.

She helps the reader to rethink how they have defined intimacy and highlights the religious value and importance of a Christian understanding. As you reframe the way you think about relationships and the choices you make, you will learn to understand why you have had feelings of guilt over past decisions, how to overcome that guilt, and to make choices that you feel comfortable with that are compatible with the Christian understanding of intimacy. She not only puts forth her views, but substantiates them through textual interpretations of Scriptures and puts each into context.

Although I may not agree with everything she writes, her book presents an unique perspective on approaching intimacy within Christianity. If these are issues that you or a girl you know are struggling with, I would recommend this book as a starting point.

Borders Sale!

So unfortunately many Borders stores are closing, but this means great deals for you! Everything in the store is anywhere from 25% - 50% off. Most books are 25%-30% off, gift items, cards, and magazines are 50% off, Blu-Rays were 30% off, etc.

BUT! As a word of caution, check Amazon before you snag any items at the closing. Some discounts are great, but other items are cheaper online even with the discounts.

Happy Sale Shopping!
